Van & Maud Lohmann

Henry VanBuren “Van” Lohmann was born March 7, 1893 in Travis County, Texas to Albert Sidney Lohmann and Melvina Merck. Van’s grandfather, John Lohmann, is the man that Lohmann’s Crossing is named after.

Van married Mary “Maud” Colley in 1917. Mary and Van both came from large families with 10 children in each family. Maud’s parents were James Colley and Eliza Smedley. The Colley Ranch still exists on Nameless Road today.

Van worked for a time with the U.S. government as a trapper. Most of his life was spent as a farmer.

Albert James Lohmann

Van and Maud had one son, Albert James Lohmann, born September 22, 1921. Albert was killed on September 24, 1944 in France during World War II. His body was shipped home to Nameless, where he was buried with full military honors. Some of the older Bonnet brothers (Zeke and Katy’s sons) remember well the playing of Taps by a soldier who stood close to the old schoolhouse during the funeral.

Albert was married to Chrystine “Allene” Pearson, daughter of Thomas M. Pearson and Creola “Ola” Bonnet Pearson. They had one son, Lonzo Leon, born February 18, 1944.
