Zeke & Katy Bonnet
Ezekiel Joseph “Zeke” Bonnet and wife Camilla Isabelle “Katy” Whitt Bonnet are both buried at Nameless Cemetery.
Zeke was born 7 September 1907 in San Saba, Texas and grew up in the Cedar Park area. He passed away on 2 November 1990 at Leander, Texas. He had 11 siblings. His great-grandfather Phillip Daniel Bonnet and family came to Texas in 1846 from Germany, landing at Indianola, Texas.
Zeke had numerous jobs in his lifetime: farming, chopping cedar, running a cedar yard, working at Brown & Root on the Texas coast, working on Mansfield Dam with the WPA, custom combining in Central, West, and South Texas, and driving a truck for White Wing Flour Company as well as owning his own truck and hauling. He was a hard worker and passed that work ethic down to his sons.
He married Camilla Isabelle “Katy” Whitt on 25 December 1927 in Liberty Hill, Texas, while sitting in a Model T outside the parson’s house. Since it was Christmas Day, there was a house full of people at the parson’s, so they stayed in the car.
Katy was born 16 May 1909 on the Whitt homeplace at Round Mountain near Leander. She passed away on 28 March 1996 in Leander, Texas. Katy had 8 siblings.
Zeke and Katy had 11 children: 9 boys and 2 girls. Their four oldest sons attended the Nameless School. They were charter members of the Whitestone Assembly of God church in Cedar Park, Texas. They cultivated a love for God in all of their children’s hearts.
They saw many answers to prayer in their family. At the time of Katy’s passing, they had 28 living grandchildren (with 1 deceased), 32 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
